Third single, 'Happier Words,' available today
Tye Newton's third single, Happier Words, is available now. It is the third of 10 songs being released one by one, over a five-week period, building to the complete release of Newton’s debut album, The future isn’t what it used to be., on April 21, 2026.
Newton says:
"'Happier Words' must be the most plainly romantic song I’ve made, with the speaker discovering their own contentment to grow old with a romantic partner. In context of the relationship, sad songs that were always a source of consolation for both of them now somehow sound rosier, inspiring lyrical adaptations with happier words.
This song originally had an extended bridge—a 'medley' of quotes from literal favorite sad songs with their words replaced with happy messages. While it was fun to translate everything into major key and waltz meter, ultimately, the song was stronger without it, and it simplified the release by eliminating the question of cover licensing."
The song can be purchased digitally on various platforms, including Subvert.fm's private alpha platform (where the complete album is already available early, exclusively to cooperative members) and Bandcamp, and is also available on various streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, YouTube, and many others.
